The first of the Isabel Dalhousie series. I read it at least 5 or 6 years ago and didn't really love it compared to the First Ladies Detective Agency series, to which I unfairly compared it. Since then, as I've read subsequent books in the series, though, I've really enjoyed Isabel Dalhousie and her adventures and dilemmas of moral philosophy. This was a great series. She overthinks everything, but still manages to get herself into scrapes. She is human and likeable. He writes about women very well for being a man...
