Oh, what balm to come back to another one in the No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series!
This one showed a little of the sadder side of modern life in Botswana, where commercial pressures and financial expectations have in some instances replaced the traditional courtesies and good manners, the mutual caring for other people that Mma Ramotswe remembers from her childhood.

Always comfortable to read books by AMS. The "Ladies #1 Detective Agency" books are especially like relaxing with a cup of tea. The books in this series can vary a bit in quality or rather story line and this one was one of the stronger stories. I wish I could be as wise as Precious Ramotswe. ...more

This series didn't make any sense to me until I saw some episodes on HBO. Now that I have an idea about the locale and the characters, I really liked #10 in the series. A bit of a cozy read with some of the mysteries easy to figure out and some not. I think I'll go back and try #9. ...more
