I always wonder that (between readings of books in this series) I forget any details of the individual stories, but have come to realize that this is mostly because each story is so much the same. I listened to the audio version of this story, which I highly recommend! I have read several of the others in this series, and now I finally know how some of the characters' names are really supposed to be pronounced. This series of books is just all around enjoyable. They always make me laugh and cry. McCall Smith is a wonderful author and I've enjoyed all his books immensely. He's one of the few authors I'd love to meet in person.

I always give books in this series fives because I just really love the series, the characters, the writing, and Africa. They are not necessarily always deeply profound or the stories complex and intriguing, but I love that about them. I love the simple lives (and sometimes not simple lives!), the author's understanding of Africa and people, and the knowledge that when I pick up one of these books, I will enjoy it and be entertained and gain some new insight, even if it is a simple one.
