When my book club got together in March we met to discuss The Miracle at Speedy Motors. Most of you probably know that we have been reading one novel in this series every year, but I can tell you from my viewpoint anyway, Smith did not disappoint once again with this installment.

If you have read any of the other books, you know what you are in for. Normally, that is not a recommendation, but Alexander McCall Smith is the master of subtle. Precious Ramotswe is so comforting that it is easy to ignore what is going on under the surface. McCall Smith manages to expose the (rough) challenges of life in Botswana, while writing cozies.

I just started this book on 5.2.1o. I am on chapter 9 I think I and I am enjoying this book alot. This series is a wonderful collection and shows what a true friends are for. Alexander McCall Smith as a wonderful way of writting.
I finished this book on 5.23.10 and it just comes to show that you should judge a person by the way they act. And never jump to conclustions.

Another notch in the series is sown. This one is like the others with the stories, and I'm still loving Precious Ramotswe and her adventures. There's a bit of confusion with that little white van of hers...I could have sworn that thing broke down for good in the last book, but perhaps I'm not remembering quite right. Memory can be a funny thing. They resolve around feelings, which will ultimately take over the actual memory of an event, whether it's reading a book or anything else in life. And,

Loved it, AMS has the knack of writing about a feel-good place without making it cloying or over-idealised. It is a joy to read this series, and it always sees me reading far into the night, because I just can'y put the book down once I have started it. Back to the diet and rationing again for a while...
