The Night Circus tells the story of two magicians each trained by their own instructor in a different way. They have been raised as children one by her father and the other a stranger trained in different way. This isn’t the first time these two instructors have had a duel but it could be the last. A good book about a world where magic is real, but people choose to believe it is all an illusion. A magical circus is made, and when it comes to town, it opens only at night. The circus is an arena where to people capable of doing magic is put up against each other. The story is fresh and interesting, unlike anything I have read before. The circus and the world is very believable and the author have done a good job setting the mood for the book.
First, the use of past tense 3rd person POV then switching to 2nd person present tense is a little jarring (and annoying). Besides the switching of POV and tenses, the constant shifts in time can be a little dizzying as well. Eventually it catches up with the reader, in this case me, and becomes a more symphonious piece of work. I found that I could actually smell the treats and feel the same love for the circus that the characters had... With that said, This book began to dry up for me after getting into it. I began skim reading the book because it seemed something amazing was coming and I couldn't wait to find out what it was. I was left with mediocrity. I didn't really enjoy the ending.

I went through stages of loving and hating this novel, but the ending was really satisfying and, despite the slightly messy plot, I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
