I quite enjoyed Divergent and had trouble putting it down. And that was before the action even started! Contrary to some reviews I've read, I thought the world-building was well thought-out and sufficiently detailed, while still leaving the reader with enough questions to want to find out more in subsequent books.

So, I am giving this book four stars instead of five. The reason being, in the beginning I wasn't sure I liked it. I found the world Veronica Roth created a little confusing (mostly because I couldn't figure out how to pronounce Abnegation or what the heck a faction was.. once I figured that out I was fine. Now, WHY I had so much trouble .. got me. I think I just had trouble caring, the author doesn't give you enough to care about at the beginning, just like WHY am I supposed to like any of thes

Roth jumps on the ever so popular bandwagon of YA dystopian fiction with her book Divergent. In a world gone bad, society is split into 5 factions based on particular virtues; Abnegation, Candor, Erudite, Amity and Dauntless. Young Tris (Beatrice) must choose between the life she has always known with her family in Abnegation or leave everything behind to follow where she believes she belongs. In society, it is faction before blood and her choice will send her on a truly daunting path ...more

So I just realized that Ive been reading plenty of dystopian novels lately. And I think I'm a bit lucky to have picked up such an amazing stories' and Divergent was one of those. It is absolutely off the hook. A world divided into 5 factions, Candor, Amity, Erudite, Dauntless and Abnegation. And when the time is right, you make the decision where you really belong….but do you really have to belong in only one faction? What if you belong to more than one? That makes you dangerous and you'll be de

Divergent was a book that I knew would be good from the start. I have this little soft spot for action packed adventure and this is one of them. It has themes of fear. What is fear. why do we fear? How do we overcome our fears? Is it right to to just follow your dreams or what has already been planned for you? It was really a wonderful book and I couldnt put it down until I finished reading it.

This has become one of my favorite young adult books. The characters are wonderfully written and the story is absolutely addicting. There isn't a single negative thing that I could think to say about this book; I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and would certainly recommend it to anyone who enjoys this type of literature.
