Marked (House of Night, #1) in YA and Beyond

I finished this and thought alot about the rating I would give the book. Throughout the day it has ranged from 3 to 4 and I finally settled on 4, I don't know why but this book is kinda like two books. I found that the characters never really developed with the book, all the action but the characters never connected much between themselves.

It seems like you'll either hate this book or you'll love it. I don't have any high expectations from this but oh well, going to start reading! =)) - 19/3/10

T/N: Zoey uses the word Slut a lot which annoys me like hell.

This is a book I reaallyy liked. The main character Zoey she's a lovable character but her teenage bitchy attitude is a bit too much sometimes. The sub characters are really interesting as will. Theres Damien the gay guy, Stevie Rae the really cute country bumpkin, Shaunee and Erin It seems like you'll either hate this book or you'll love it. This is a book I reaallyy liked. The main character Zoey she's a lovable character but her teenage bitchy attitude is a bit too much sometimes. The sub characters are really interesting as will. Theres Damien the gay guy, Stevie Rae the really cute country bumpkin, Shaunee and Erin the twins even though their not from the same parents, the way they act and talk and everything is like their twins. Aphrodite the Queen of Bitch, she has massive slut behaviour. And Neferet the High Priestess, gotta feeling she's evil. And the two love interest Heath (the-almost-ex-boyfriend) and hottie Erik Knight (the-almost-boyfriend) are just DAYYUUUMM girl friend great catches. And theres her kitty Nala, absolutely gorgeeous cat. And the plot is just WOW, thats the main thing that kept me reading. There's so many things going on that are soo interesting.

Marked is about Zoey Redbird (she's a half Cherokee) but I like to call her Z (the nickname that hottie Erik Night gave her) a teenager whose life is not so good. Her mum married another man whose a total LOSER (seriously he is) and because of him her mother doesn't pay attention to her anymore like she used to. The only person that pays attention to her is her sweet old grandmama who owns a Lavender farm and calls her Zoeybird. One day at school while she was with her (ex) best friend she got marked by the Tracker. Her parents freaked out when they learned about that and tried to lock her in her room. She ran away to her grandmama place and there is she meets Nyx the Goddess of the Vampyre, after she falls down and became unconscious. There Nyx tells her: Zoey Redbird , Daughter of Night, I name you my eyes and ears in the world today, a world where good and evil are struggling to find balance. Her grandma finds her and takes her to the House of Night the private broading school known as the vampyre finishing school. There she meet Neferet her Guardian also the High Priestess of the House of Night. At the House of Night she's different from other fledging, she has a complete Mark and as a normal teenage girl she just wants to fit in. At the House of Night she joins with a little bit of persuasion the Dark Daughters and Sons which is an exclusive organisation for the best and brightest fledglings in the school. But here's the catch her enemy Aphrodite is the leader of the organisation. And Aphrodite hates her because of Erik Knight *sighs* the absolutely gorgeous guy ever. Aphrodite thinks that Erik and her are still on when its so not true. And Erik totally is into Zoey's, its so obvious and they did kiss multiple times near the end of the book which was HOT. Zoey's been also seeing the 'ghost' of the fledging who didn't make the transition around the House of Night which freaks her out.

Next book Betrayed here I come.

It was a very exciting and I could hardly put it down. If you enjoyed twilight, Morganville Vampires,Vampire Academy or any other currently popular vampire series you will love this one. From page one until the very end I was at the end of my seat and I trust you will love the rest of this on going series and continue to be thirsty for more.

I feel in love with this book and can not wait to read all the other books in the series. I have a feeling it is going to be a favorite series of mine. I have put this series off for a couple years and had no interest in reading it but decided one day to just give it a try and so glad I did.
