I don't read a lot of dystopian and I put off reading this book because of that. Then, I finally read and loved, loved, loved it. I love the writing, the story, the pacing, and the word Condie created. It read very smooth and I look forward to the next book in the series. ...more

I would give this book a 3 1/2 stars. It's the first in a trilogy. I thought it was really interesting and I'm excited for next one. ...more

I really loved this book - but I wish I had waited until November to read it because the ending was not an ending!!! Still loved it and it will make an excellent book group book. At the core this is a book about choice and it reminds me of how grateful I am for agency.

A little bit The Giver but not so abstract. A little bit Hunger Games but not nearly as intense. And not as thought provoking as either.

I liked it. It'd give it 4 if it was just for me, but I give it a 5 because it's a good clean read for Young Adults, which are hard to find. Too bad I have to wait until Nov. for #2 of the trilogy to come out.

The second half, however, made it hard to put down. I don't want to give too much away but I cannot wait to see and read the next book in the series, slated to be released in November. ...more
