What Members Thought

I don't read a lot of dystopian and I put off reading this book because of that. Then, I finally read and loved, loved, loved it. I love the writing, the story, the pacing, and the word Condie created. It read very smooth and I look forward to the next book in the series.

I would give this book a 3 1/2 stars. It's the first in a trilogy. I thought it was really interesting and I'm excited for next one.

Read in 9/11 to discuss in 10/11

A little bit The Giver but not so abstract. A little bit Hunger Games but not nearly as intense. And not as thought provoking as either.
I liked it. It'd give it 4 if it was just for me, but I give it a 5 because it's a good clean read for Young Adults, which are hard to find. Too bad I have to wait until Nov. for #2 of the trilogy to come out. ...more

I stayed up late to finish the book, and am glad I did. I admit that the first part of the book did take some warming up and I had to get used to it. The second half, however, made it hard to put down. I don't want to give too much away but I cannot wait to see and read the next book in the series, slated to be released in November.

I really enjoyed this book and Condie's writing. This story brought up a lot of interesting thoughts and connections for me personally. Can't wait for the next book!
