What Members Thought

A wonderful mystery that feels fresh and interesting. The writer's style never got in the way of the story, which is my favorite kind of writing. I loved the twists of the story and felt drawn to all of the characters. All the characters were very well drawn and overall, I would recommend this one highly.

Cold As Ice by Stephanie Black
With each novel Stephanie writes, she keeps getting better. I absolutely love her cliffhangers, she is so good at what she does, as she grabs you from the start and pulls you in. Way to go, cousin!!!

Nope! This didn't work for me. The characters were stereotypes with no depth and sometimes no function. I guessed the villain (who had little to do in the story which is really strange) right away so that wasn't good. The two main characters were not believable or too likable so that colored my acceptance of the plot. I won't need to read more of Black's novels.

I was certain I knew who the murderer was in this book from the get go. Until I reached a little past page 200 and the book took a twist. After that I didn't want to stop reading, so I could find out who did it. This was one of the most clean suspense/ mystery books I've ever read and I appreciated that greatly. I'd definitely read another book by this Author.

I'm not a fan of suspense novels, and this book is definitely in the suspense catagory. I had to skip ahead and read the last chapter so that I knew which charaters I could trust. I enjoyed the relationships between the main characters, but didn't enjoy the twists and turns at the end. I think the book is well written, it's just not the genre for me.
