Read for a discussion in Reading the Chunksters, which I am leading. I made a lot of notes for the discussion, which will last several months, but they are far too detailed to reproduce here. Clarke's command of the detail of her creation is one of the most impressive aspects of this book, as is her knowledge of the period in which most of it is set, the early years of the nineteenth century. I enjoyed this but struggle with the fact it took me 6 weeks to finish. Ok. There was a lot of General Election stuff to read but 6 weeks was too long. Next year I will read more books and less political articles.
