This book is a definite emotional roller coaster. Their were times I loved the characters and times I hated them. I have to give McNaught credit, she kept me captivated the entire time with this story. This one is 2nd in favorites by McNaught, for Kingdom of Dreams will probably always be my favorite. If your in the mood to laugh, cry, scream in frustration, and feel your heart swell to near bursting from the amount of love two people can feel for each other then you should read this book.

Throughout reading this book I had one constant thought on my mind... that this was reading like a toned-down version of Gone With the Wind (the movie as I've never and most like won't read the actual book). what a highly dramatic couple! Absolutely did not believe in their HEA. At every opportunity, they believe the very worst about each other and then commence with the verbal, mental and physical abuse. No communication skills or trust whatsoever. Their relationship is constantly disrupted by other people and horrible accusations which they believe without question. it'll just be something or someone else with them next week. Without the money, they'd be on a Regency era Jerry Springer episode. Al ...more

3 1/2 stars. Liked it quite a bit up until the big conflict. But most romance books back when this was written had big conflicts to them. Because of this I remember liking this book more the first time I read it then now. I still enjoyed it and will read it again some day. It also had good secondary characters.
