Jennifer is one of the best authors I have read in years! She has once again done it with an EPIC series! She has created a world where two cultures collide and in order to survive they must learn to trust and rely on each other.

Katy has moved from sunny Florida to start a new life with her mother. They needed a change in scenary so they decide to move to a quiet town in PA. Once there Katy realizes that starting her senior year somewhere new is not going to be that bad. Her mother encourages he Jennifer is one of the best authors I have read in years! She has once again done it with an EPIC series! She has created a world where two cultures collide and in order to survive they must learn to trust and rely on each other.

Katy has moved from sunny Florida to start a new life with her mother. They needed a change in scenary so they decide to move to a quiet town in PA. Once there Katy realizes that starting her senior year somewhere new is not going to be that bad. Her mother encourages her to go out and make friends with the neighbors next store because they are about her age.

Katy decides she will follow her mother advice and go over and meet the neighbors. Once she gets there she is shocked by the guy who comes to the door because he is hot sex on a platter and she can not take her eyes off of him that is until he opens his mouth. The Gorgeous guy at the door is a complete a$$hole to her and she can't get away from him and his house fast enough. The only thing is he has a twin sister and she is the total opposite of him and they become best friends.

Nothing is worse than secretly loving your best friends brother so Katy tries to push her feelings aside because Daemon is a total tool to her. What is a girl to do when she is faced with danger and the only person around is the asshat next store. Katy is not sure what is going on but something is definately weird. Will she be able to trust the one person that pushes all her buttons?

Come along for an adventure of a lifetime as Jennifer weaves this story with so many twists and turns it will leave you wanting more and screaming because the second book does not come out until March 2012.

I had so many favorite quotes and parts to this book it was very hard for me to pick just one. Lord Jennifer can write so I chose a scene where Katy is talking to Daemon on page 262.

Katy asking Daemon: "Where have you been?" I asked in a voice that sounded shrill to my own ears.

Daemon say to Katy: "Well hello, honey, I've been out boozing and whoring. I know, my priorities are pretty off."

Katy says to Daemon: My lips thinned at his sarcastic response. "Dick", I muttered.

hehehe I totally love Daemon and his snarky attitude! Read this book because you will be laughing your pants off! ...more

Obsidian has totally changed my view of aliens. Now when I picture one, I'm going to see a gorgeous black-haired, green-eyed guy that can light up like the Fourth of July! Jennifer L. Obsidian has totally changed my view of aliens. Now when I picture one, I'm going to see a gorgeous black-haired, green-eyed guy that can light up like the Fourth of July! Jennifer L. Armentrout is a genius for thinking this up! When I started reading Obsidian I didn't stop until I reached the very last page. The story and the characters had me hooked. Katy might be one of my favorite heroines so far; she's sweet, tough, selfless, and did I mention that she reviews books for her blog? (She is awesome!) Then there is her best friend Dee, who is drop-dead gorgeous. This girl is a ball of fun energy bundled up in a wrapping of sweetness, fierce loyalty, and protectiveness. And then there is her twin brother Daemon. (He's the hot, green-eyed one.) I loved how for Daemon and Katy it wasn't love at first sight..... or second sight, or third, and so on and so forth! I mean, these two bickered like cats and dogs! Which I find rather endearing. Last, and most certainly least, I must mention the bad guys. They are called Arums and are seriously scary. They are basically these shadow creatures that you can't see and can kill you without breaking a sweat. But as bad as they are, the Luxens totally make up for it, because they are light. (And I mean that literally!) The bottom line is I am in love with this new series and can't wait for the sequel to be released and find out what is going to happen next! It is definitely being added to my favorites shelf! <3

UPDATE: Obsidian has been optioned for film by Sierra Pictures!

Now, I am so freakin’ scared! The Lux series is literally my favorite series ever and now Hollywood’s got a hold of it! :3

Now don’t get me wrong, I’m excited. But my stomach also feels like it has a rock sitting at the bottom of it, so…..

Plus I love Pepe Toth as Daemon Black! And now we’ll have a new Daemon!!! What if they pull a Jace Wayland/Jamie Campbell Bower and he’s not attractive enough?!?!

What about Katy? What if they pick the wrong girl?!?! What if the CGI is bad and the aliens look super fake when they go Luxen?!?!

After reading numerous glowing reviews of this book and the author, I knew I had to get my hands on a copy of this book! Obsidian turned out to be just as funny, sexy, and intriguing as everyone said it was going to be. It wasn’t perfect but it was an entertaining read none the less and I am now a fan of Jennifer L. Armentrout!

After reading numerous glowing reviews of this book and the author, I knew I had to get my hands on a copy of this book! Obsidian turned out to be just as funny, sexy, and intriguing as everyone said it was going to be. It wasn’t perfect but it was an entertaining read none the less and I am now a fan of Jennifer L. Armentrout!

Due to the reviews I had read, I knew the big “secret” that was revealed later on in the book that took away some of the surprise but getting to know the back-story made it worthwhile. The inclusion of Daemon and Dee’s background and origin saved Obsidian from being a clichéd book but rather it made it different. Obsidian wasn’t overly saturated with background information so it didn’t make me cringe or get overly confused at anything the author introduced nor was it all too predictable, something I had feared. There was a good balance of sexiness, funny times, and danger and excitement to make Obsidian’s plot a fast paced ride!

But I did have an issue with it all: I'd seen it all before. The new-town, new-girl scenario. Then add in the hot bad boy and something mysterious happening. There is of course a parent who is dead and the other is too busy working to really be in her (or his) child's life. Basically, besides the whole "mystery" with Daemon, everything was just...not original.

Katy was snarky and gunny and completely infatuated with Daemon, no matter how infuriating he was. She quickly realized that there was more to the jerk. She was relatable in the aspect that she wasn’t the typical “gorgeous but doesn’t know it” girl or the damsel in distress. Katy had a firm belief in who she was and she was comfortable in her skin. BUT, of course, she has to be put down by Daemon and ever though he treats her like crap (really, he does), she still think's he's totally hot. I just...no. Obviously, Jennifer L. Armentrout didn't make Katy a Mary Sue and she did stand up for herself occasionally, I wish Katy had more self...respect might be the word. Plus, she was a book blogger so obviously, that was awesome!

Daemon himself won me over. He wasn’t the clichéd jerk-who-acts-horrible-but-is-nice-underneath-his-jerkiness but rather a nice bad boy. While he didn’t always treat Katy nicely, there was a good reasoning behind it. Katy and Daemon’s stubborn personalities and strong headedness created great chemistry that was based more on their respect for each other and while there was a spark in the first time they met, they didn’t fall in love at first sight. And the sexual tension was so thick you could slice it with a knife and I loved it!

Jennifer L. Armentrout’s writing was fast paced and easy to read and enjoyable. While it wasn’t as developed per say, it fit Katy’s voice and made her more likable. I did feel that some of it was repetitive and maybe a use of a thesaurus would have been helpful, though too much would be bad of course.

Overall, Obsidian was a great read with plenty of sexual tension between Katy and Daemon that made you smile and even laugh. The dialogue with biting and funny and snarky and I loved it. Jennifer L. Armentrout has made me a fan of hers with this book and I hope to get book two, Onyx as soon as possible!

I loved this!!! I thought this book was just amazing and I can't believe it took me so long to read. I will have a full review up soon.

First off, let me say girls and women everywhere will go crazy for Daemon. This book was fantastic and truly met all my expectations. I enjoyed the fact that the romance didn't feel like it does in a lot of novels. because the relationship developed slowly over time. i think im having little episodes of heart attack every time Daemon's a jerk to Katy. if i were her, I would totally avoid him. But then again, they're obviously attracted to each other.

anyway, i love story, but it's a little Twilight-ish to me. Although i like how Kat and Daemon do the bickering.

cant wait to read the next book. ...more
