This was a hot fantasy to be honest.
Not all of the kink is my kink, but it was strangely arousing to read.
This is porn, but decent porn, not pretending to be anything else.

Boring AND annoying... Skipped to the last of the trilogy not long after I reached half of the book. That was also after so many pages skipping.
I like what Anne Rice did with this; it could be simply a retelling starring smut and porn - and that would be fine too, that would be what most might expect to find, but no.
She made Beauty into a character, gave her a personality beyond the shadow of a sleeping "Princess", blonde and bland; instead this Beauty is full of subduction and sins, that she discovers as she makes her way in this world where what could be simply submission works to be more, it has a purpose, this book shows the flaws ...more
