I'm gonna guess that I probably got this book from a Scholastic book order, or maybe at my grade school's book fair.
(Man, those were the days.)
I can still remember reading this for the first time. I'm sorry, I really wanted to like this but the language used was so simple, the kind you were criticised for using when doing creative writing as a child, that my attention (even after taking breaks) kept wandering and only came back when I heard "Other Mother" or "cat".

Such a cute story. Coraline is a modern day Alice/Dorothy/Wendy. Dark, but not too dark. It's a good read for children and adults alike.
