I selected this collection of Japanese ghostly folk stories for the decades challenge at Horror Aficionados. I've read one short story before by Lafcadio Hearn, an American writer born in Greece to a Greek mother and American father of Irish descent. Tal pareciera que yo tengo una fijación.
Las historias de Lafcadio me parecieron hermosas, del tipo que espero encontrar en un viejo libro, tal como los cuentos de colores. No necesariamente hermosos, ni felices. Sólo interesantes.
La conjunción de lo extraordinario en la vida común.
Esa unión es lo que tanto me fascina de ellos. Es posible creer. No sé si su literatura sea menos cínica o real.

An interesting collection of ghost stories. My favorite was The Story of Aoyagi. The sections about insects at the end seemed out of place.

Some really interesting ghost stories from Japanese folklore. I especially enjoyed the earlier pieces in the collection.
