Throughly charming.
There's a good balance between a more modern portrayal of a female (no damsels in distress here!), good rational behind events, and truthfulness to the original tale.
There's plenty of strong female characters without denying the males their roles or their strengths. Characters have solid motivations for their actions, instead of just doing something because it was that way in the original and all the seemingly random elements of the original tale all fit together like a puzzle ...more
