Historical romance is not my genre of choice but after reading books by Judith McNaught, I may have to reevaluate that. Her writing draws me into a past world where I can picture myself standing there watching a scene unfold and feeling the emotions that are involved. She does just that in A Kingdom of Dreams. I loved the characters in this book. I loved reading about a badass "wolf" and a "proud" heroine falling in love with one another even if they are enemies. This book left me with a warm, q ...more

This has turned out to be one of my all-time favorites. I don't give many books 5 stars. Royce and Jenny are both really strong characters on opposite sides of political lines. Their meeting was coincidental and really should never have happened. If any small occurrence had happened differently, it would have changed the entire story. I want so badly to review this book! But I really don't think I could so it justice. I'll just say that Judith McNaught has a way of breathing life into her characters that's very rare. From the squire, to the quirky Aunt, to the strong but silent bodyguard (who, by the way says a total of 20 words or less throughout the whole book). The heroine, Jenny, was dynamic. And Royce Westmoreland will take a place of honor on my Hero Hall of Fame Mantle. ::sigh:: ...more

I was a little scared about reading this book after WML, but I loved it! Way more than WML...(which was too emotionally draining and is only readable once every 5 years or so)...
I loved Jennifer, and the way she kept on fighting him till she realizes that she loves him, and I loved Royce, who messes up so badly and then gives everything to have her forgive him... I was a little teary-eyed at the joust! Adored that scene! Definitely worth reading and rereading! 5*
