Well, this was fun. I am glad I started reading historical romances only a couple of years back. Now I have tons of books to catch up on when I am in the mood for a historical romance.
So, what's to like in this book? Well, both characters are great. Alec has that caveman personality and since people today consider 'it's *insert current year*' enough to justify their opinions I don't see why the same thing couldn't be applied to this book. I loved the hero, Alec! He was all gruff and bossy, but was very loving and caring and easily amused by his English wife, Jamie. Jamie was a spit-fire. She's spunky and had a temper, but was caring and considerate.
The reasoning for only 3.5 stars is cause the whole time I read it, it felt as if I'd read it before in another book by this author, The Secret. I enjoyed this, but it was just too familiar. ...more

A friend suggested I read this as i have not read much historical romance set in the highlands. I did enjoy it but at times the religious elements were a bit much.
I like the storyline and the community feel of the clans. I think I will read more as I do like her writing.

Reread. As expected, I'm still enchanted as I was six years ago. I wish to read more stories like this. I'm so jealous of those who haven't yet experienced this book.
