I really like the Thrawn character, and if you’ve read any of my SW reviews you know I hold Timothy Zahn in the highest regard for inspiring the entire Expanded Universe (now called Legacy), so I really wanted to love this one.
It’s good. It’s very well written. Thrawn is still a very compelling character. The book establishes his tactical brilliance very well. I suppose part of the problem is that he is so smart that he wins every battle before it starts.

Very similar in some respects to Lost Stars (another terrific book) in that it recounts events before Episode 4 and the obvious hints with what's to come.
