What Members Thought
Thrawn is definitely my favourite novel from the new Star Wars cannon. It gives us the backstory of how our favourite blue-skinned Grand Admiral came to be with the Imperial Navy and rose through its ranks. The pacing is amazing albeit sometimes a bit too fast and every chapter is prefaced with a neat snippet from Thrawn's journals, which are extremely reminiscent of Art of War.

Thrawn was arguably the best character to come out of the Expanded Universe, and I was pumped when I learned that Disney was going to re-introduce his character. I was even more excited when I saw that they were going to have the book be written by Zahn. While I enjoyed reading this book, it definitely doesn't compared to the original. One problem I had with it is that it isn't just an origin story for Thrawn. Pryce was a character that I kept waiting to have some major significance in the story

As an avid reader of the Expanded Universe before the reboot with Episode VII, it's hard not to think of the newer canon in relation to those old events. That being said this books presents a nice weaving of Thrawn and Governor Pryce's backgrounds together before their parts in the Star Wars Rebels TV show.
