At last! Regin and her Berserker's story! I LOVED this book and sped through it in pretty much two sittings (damn work getting in the way of my reading time grrrr!) What I liked about this book and how it differs from the others in the series is that it tells the story from other characters POV other then the h/H, in this book we finally get a good look at Lothaire The Enemy of Old, and I LOVED Nix and Lothaire's mini stand off! Regin the Radian (Valkyrie) is recognized by Aidan the Berserker as his mate when she is 12 years old but before he can become immortal, he is killed. His love for her, however, is so strong that he is reborn and they meet and fall in love over and over again over the next 1000 years. The tragedy is: as soon as they kiss and have sex, the new body realizes that Aidan is reincarnated and dies.

Regin is understandably done after the fourth replay of this game and decides not to know the next rebirt Regin the Radian (Valkyrie) is recognized by Aidan the Berserker as his mate when she is 12 years old but before he can become immortal, he is killed. His love for her, however, is so strong that he is reborn and they meet and fall in love over and over again over the next 1000 years. The tragedy is: as soon as they kiss and have sex, the new body realizes that Aidan is reincarnated and dies.

Regin is understandably done after the fourth replay of this game and decides not to know the next rebirth. Theoretically good plan. In his latest reincarnation, Aidan is an enemy of the Lore, namely the "Executor" Declan Chase. His parents were killed by the Lore when he was a kid and he was almost killed by them. He is now quite pissed and leads a prison, in which different species of Lore are incarcerated. His goal is to find the weaknesses of the species and use them against them. The species are dissected alive ... *Urrrggg*.

Regin also falls into his clutches, recognizes him as a rebirth of Aidan and tries to remind him. He denies at first but over time he feels a connection. Without his knowledge Regin is also dissected and swears revenge.

Well and then the outbreak of the creatures happened, which was already described in the pre-novel "Demon from the Dark".

Now the best part of the book begins, because Lothaire will play from now on. In the general tumult he also escapes along with Regin, Declan and a few others. The guy is really cool and I'm looking forward to his story. Slowly he takes on a role similar to Archeron in the Dark Hunter novels: Occurs again and again in many novels but you only get to know fragments of his story. Obviously, he also had a past with Nix, the two also meet each other.

The rest is the escape from the island, Declan becomes immortal, the curse is lifted >> HEA. Why Declan becomes immortal is a little "deus ex machina": He has killed so many evil Lore creatures in his different lives that a god grants him immortality. Well, somehow cheap.

The rating is not easy. Parts of the book were worth a clear 5 stars, others, however, even just 2. The love story was too schematic. Slowly, Cole, I believe the ideas, and everything repeats itself. Hopefully she gets the novel better with Lothaire (and NIx?) ... ...more

Suprisingly, this might be my favorite in the series so far. I prefer it to the fan favorite Lothaire for sure.

I never liked Regin but I like her quite a bit in this and this was a believable enemies to lovers unlike the fake I hate you for some reason in kresley's other books
Declan had valid reasons to hate the lore.

Declan sounded so sexy in the audio and he's the right kind of possesive. I love how obsessed he is with regin. ...more

WOW! Cole just gets better and better with each book! She know how to make the chemistry between the hero and heroine intense!!! I've been waiting for Regin's book for a long time now and I was not dissapointed. I loved Regin and Declan! I hated when this book was over because it meant I have to wait almost a year for the next one:( and after that book I NEED to know more about Lothaire.... ...more

Wow. This was rather like being hit over the head with a sledgehammer. Although DC appears irredeemable, Kresley Cole manages it.
