This book was rather interesting and captivating. It's a spin-off from the Night Huntress series. I read the first 4 Night Huntress Books previous to this one . Then I decided to read this book while waiting for the 5th Night Huntress book to come out. I lucked into reading them in perfect order. If you read this book before reading the Night Huntress series than you miss out on huge back-story information and character building. I really wish Goodreads did 1/2 stars. I liked this better than a 3 but not as much as other 4s. It's a B- for me. I liked Spade and Denise. I know other reviewers had an issue with Denise but to me she is just a much different heroine than Cat. She's been through a lot and is grieving. She gets hit with a lot and kind of freaks out, in a way while it's a little annoying it's probably a more realistic reaction to her circumstances than in a lot of other books.
