A quick read, Magic Burns, the second offering in Ilona Andrews’s popular Kate Daniels Urban Fantasy series, is action packed and full of characters.
The gist of the tale is simple on the surface: Kate finds herself in the middle of danger- once again- when she finds a young girl who is looking for her missing mother while tracking a mysterious assassin making trouble for the shifters and vamps. Another great one. Already ordered the used version of the third in the series so I should be plowing through this whole thing within a week or two. Then I'll get started on her online content and then I'll pout because I don't have anything left.
This is really enjoyable urban fantasy. The world is a little futuristic and a little primitive at the same time. Awash with magic for hours and then bereft. In this installment the Magic was leading up to a flare and, of course, very strange things wer ...more

Another great read from Andrews.
I enjoyed the Action, the plot was pretty good, the character interaction was great, We get more involved with Jim and the Pack, and of course more Curran :D I am reminded of Briggs' Mercy and Adam with Kate and Curran. That's a good thing.
I can't wait to read book 3 ...more

I liked this one much better than the first one. I laughed out loud so many times and blushed and smirked at all the flirting. Ahhhhhhh. Such a delight!
I still liked Kate in this one. She made me laugh so many times at her brutal honesty. I laughed when she was talking to Bran about the possibility of them "talking". She was still tough and not afraid to back down from a fight even when she knew she wouldn't win.
We get a few hints about Curran and his "half-breedness". What's up with that?
