I don't know why I waited so long to read this book - Karen Marie Moning has never wrote a bad book, in my opinion, and this book is no exception!

The heroine reminded me a bit of a cross between "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and Alicia Silverstone's Clair in "Clueless". I loooved how she would go off on a spill about something totally irrelevant to the more exciting going-ons and let's not forget her ever-changing shades of pink fingernail polishes and lip glosses. *lol

I couldn't really get into this one which is a bummer because I really enjoyed the premise and the appearance of faeries. Despite the interesting mystery blurb, the story felt like territory that has been retread before and I found myself comparing Mackayla to Sookie Stackhouse a lot in the way she's portrayed as a prim and proper southern belle. What a start. I need to know more about Barrons though! I feel like I am incomplete somehow.

First person narration but I'll forgive because this was a pretty good paranormal suspense story. Sucky cliffhanger ending leaving one no choice but to pick up the next one. Plus, for a ditzy blonde, she's got a pretty stellar vocabulary, I must say!

Oh, I forgot to mention that this is NOT a clean read. Several really graphic sexual references and bad language.
