First book in the Kelly family, KGI series is ex-Navy Seal Ethan Kelly and his wife Rachel's story. Wish I would have been better prepared for this heartbreaking tear jerker. I am new to Maya Banks but will be coming back for more. This was a subdued suspense novel for me. Not quite the shoot em ups I am accustomed to. I think this was a wonderful story of how an alpha male can destroy his life by his sheer stubbornness and demons. I love this cast of characters, KGI team, Kelly family & Garrett

Wow, this one wasn't what I expected. I wasn't even sure what it was about, only that I really like this author and have slowly been working my way through her backlist of books.
I felt for Ethan, his anguish for his dead wife was palpable, his hope so tangible that you really, really wanted to believe the info that he received. Then when finally see Rachel and realize just what she has been through you can hardly believe it, sometimes last hopes can come true.

I have never read a book by this author so I was not sure of what to expect, and I am glad to say that I enjoyed reading The Darkest Hours. It was suspenseful and exciting and at times touching. This book was easy to read and held my attention, I will definitely look forward to reading other books by Maya Banks.
Love love love this series
DNF. Maybe someday I'll get around to finishing it.
