Loved this story! At first I wasn’t sure about it... the hero is so much like a certain other character we know and love, I was afraid it would come off more as fan/fic rather than a brand new novel. Pleasantly surprised that it did not.

I have mixed feelings about this book. I liked the story, the vampire concept, the romance, but I disliked Cat. At least initially. She got a little better through the book, but my initial feelings for her aren't forgotten.

Anyway, Cat, our heroine, is half-vampire and hunts EVIL, aka. vampires in her free-time. This is a kind of repayment to her mother, who was raped by her vampiric father. After their initial disagreements, they team up to take down the real EVIL vampires, because there are good vampires too. Cat still believes that vampires are all evil, until slowly, she realizes that isn't the case. Bones is the ultimate sweetheart. He's blond, British, and is essentially a ball of love. For some bizarre reason, he falls for Cat (calls her 'Kitten') and tries to woo her. I could have only like him more if the narrator gave him a cooler British accent, but no, he got one of the crappier, unsexy ones. His friend, Charles, aka. Spade, got a cooler one, though, but his hair kind of turned me off from him. Anyway, Bones and Cat are trying to take down one of the biggest baddies of them all, Hennessey, a vampire who has made torture and human trafficking an art form. Anyway, Cat is a badass, especially after Bones' training, and they take down crime together. Of course, along the way, Cat eventually falls for Bones too and they got spicy sex scenes along the way.

So basically, Cat kinda grew one me (ok, I tolerated her), and Bones is one sexy beast. Now the secondary characters? They were just that, secondary. We met a few people, but they never leave a mark. Like Cat's college female friend, Spade, and Timmy. I can't even remember that crazy biatch's name. Anyway, none of these secondary characters did anything for the story. Except for her mother, who I think is the ultimate bitch and a "super-freak". I hate her with a passion that I can't imagine getting for anyone else. While Hennessey was the major villain of the book, I thought that Cat's mother was the scariest, craziest bitch to grace the planet. I wish she was a vampire, so i can stake her. She will never win any 'best mommy' awards or anything. She placed blame for every bad thing on her life on her daughter's vampire-ness and the whole vampire community, which is dumb and she needs to be slapped. Cat shouldn't have even saved her or done what she did at the end for her (view spoiler).

I am tempted to continue with this series, because it wasn't too bad. It's no super awesome or anything, but it has potential. I may have rated it 3 stars, but its really a 3.5 star book. I recommend it and hope to continue with the series...sometime. I'm still pissed off with Cat's mom and I don't think I want to read about a woman so retarded in common sense and parental love.

I started out LOVING this book. I mean I LOVED it - during the 1st 4/5's. The last 1/5 of this book made me drop the book by 1.5 stars... and made me want to drop it more.

Aside from the stupid, stupid ending, this book was a great read. Cat got on my nerves most of the time with her hatred, anger, and prejudice. I was surprised that she didn't "get it" sooner. It's not like she was a kid any more, to keep believing all of the propaganda her mom kept feeding her. Speaking of her mom, she annoyed I started out LOVING this book. How in the world could Cat live with that for so long??

Cat wasn't always annoying. She was pretty hardcore at times. She was also funny and sweet at times.

I liked this book because it was different from most of the paranormal books that I've read. It is probably closest to the Fever series more than anything. Which makes me say that I am so, so sorry Barrons but Bones has dethroned you! He is now my favorite dude. He was an awesome fighter and fearless killer (like Barrons) but he just delivered it so much better. He was hardcore and manly (as much as the undead could be). I think at some point he says that fighting dirty was the only way to win a fight! Haha! He held nothing back when it came to sparring. Do I know who would win between a fight between him and Barrons? I don't know.... but Bones just might be the victor. Am I lame for comparing two characters and trying to decide who would win in a fight. You betcha! But you already knew that - and it's really fun!

This book had a lot of funny parts that had me laughing out loud. It's an adult book, with adult words and some, um, talk and all that had me blushing at times (think of a watered down V'lane). Vampires and drrty talk, who knew?? I stayed up late to listen to as much as I could, then I woke up early (um, about 10 minutes earlier than usual!) just so I could finish it.

Oh! Remember a few reviews ago I said that I didn't care for audiobooks? Yeah! I lied! I actually like them. I could get so much more reading done with them. And a good narrator makes a huge difference. I really liked this one and thought the narrator did a great job with the voices.

This book would have certainly made it on my totally loved shelf if not for the stupid ending. The last few chapters seemed like they were drowned out. It almost felt like the author, after she had finished the book, decided that she'd rather make it a series. As a result, she went back to change the last few chapters from good to stupid. That's right I said stupid. And annoying. I can't forget annoying. But I'm glad I read it. But I don't think I'll read the next book anytime soon. (I said anytime soon, you know I'm such a flaker). ...more

I forgot how much I loved Bones!! Cat with all her anti vampire prejudice kinda got on my nerves. She has a lot of growing up to do. Her mother is just awful. I kinda wanted her to die....
Bones is just about the best hero/vampire ever. I love him!!

This was a really fun read. I just loved Bones, you have to know a woman created him because he is too perfect. But I am put off with the ending. That is not the way I like stories to end. Unless of coarse, the next in the series continues that particular story with better end results somehow.
