What a shameless pleasure this book was! I was so taken into the whole Scottish highlands thing, I found myself speaking with a Scottish accent to my Welsh corgi, Ms. Molly McGhee.
I haven't read any of the author's other books in her Highlander series, and I understand now this is the 5th or 6th book in the series. Doesn't matter, though - this book is self-contained, although it does feature characters from previous novels. The eponymous dark highlander is Dageus MacKeltar, a time-travelling Dr ...more

My favorite of the series. Dageus, the hero, is one bad dude. The twin of Drustan from Kiss of the Highlander, Dageus saves his brother's life and is condemned with 13 evil druids inside him, battling for his soul and I'm madly in love with him. Chloe, the heroine, is a student of antiquities and her snooping gets her into a spot of trouble.

Much better than the last one
This was a reread for me but I have a question. In Shadowfever Dageus was the one to carry the book because he already had evil inside of him with the 13. But in this book the Queen takes the 13 from him. I got the impression in Shadowfever that he still had the 13 because Mac made a comment about how she could see things in his eyes. I guess I am confused?

My review of this book is summed up in one word....Yum!

I heard that the best 2 books in Karen Marie Moning’s Highlander series were Kiss Of The Highlander (#4) and The Dark Highlander (#5), and that while it was okay to skip the previous series installments,
these
2 books must be read in order. So I jumped in with #4. It took some time for me to warm up to it, but then I just became caught up in the rich Highlander world Moning had created and couldn’t help but love it. Then I was completely blown away by this installment (#5). Wow! Dageus MacKe

The Dark Highlander by Karen Marie Moning
Highlander Series #5
A man possessed with one good conscience and thirteen bad ones. An overly-curious student of antiquities. A love that will battle an ancient curse, and a destructive future.
Having listened to the other Highlander books, I finally got my hands on the audiobook of The Dark Highlander. Since, I read this series out of order, it was actually fitting that I ended having this as the last one, since I started with Book 4, Kiss of the Higlande ...more

Another favorite. This one is about Daegus and Chloe. Ms. Moning has again taken the usual direction of the last stories and given it another direction. She is amazing. the way she draws you in, it's as if you are right there with all of it.
