Perhaps 4.5 stars.
I had no idea about the culprit(s) and the last few chapters flew past me. I have some unanswered questions and I hope there's a discussion of this book somewhere on goodreads.
If you have liked the previous Rizzoli & Isles books, I think you will really like this one, as I did. I'm sad to see there's only one more book in this series. I'll have to look for Tess Gerritsen's other books and hope for more of Jane Rizzoli and Maura Isles.

So what happened to Rizzoli between The Surgeon and this book?!! Did the body snatchers come and replace her with a kinder, gentler, less grumpy pod person?? I found this one in the book bin at the library and grabbed it but haven't read any other Gerritsen novels other than The Surgeon. Needless to say, I like the pod person Rizzoli much better than the original.

I may be slightly biased in my review of this novel because I am a huge fan of Tess Gerritsen and have read all of her work.
This novel is the latest in the Rizzoli and Isles series and starts with the brutal murders of three foster families. The only survivors are three children who appear, at first glance, to have no connection whatsoever. The only thing that appears to link them is the fact that their biological families were murdered in the same week leaving only the children as survivors.

This book is kicking my butt. It's so good but I was so tired last night I couldn't read more than a few pages and I had really hoped to finish it tonight but I have to be in court early in the morning so that is not going to happen.
Finally finished it and it was really good until about the last 40 pages then kind of fell flat. She's such a good writer and can hold the intrigue until she has to finally solve the murder and then it kind of fizzles, or I figured it out and thought I was ridiculous ...more

I thought it was a really solid book. I didn't expect the ending. I'm a huge fan of the series, and I thought this was a great addition!
