At book twelve, Tess Gerritsen continues to impress me with her Rizzoli & Isles Series. Unlike any other series I've experienced, the author is able to keep things fresh and vibrant with the variety of subject matters explored. A follower of Rizzoli & Isles can never be certain which mysterious territory Maura and Jane will be taken to next. I Know A Secret is full of surprising developments in all the lives of its characters.

I Know A Secret is full of surprising developments in all the lives of its characters.

I appreciate the use of film in I Know A Secret. Like a good book, an excellent film will leave me pondering and thinking. I believe there is a lot truth in fiction & in a film's story - my favorite books and films are those I can find an emotional connection with. I do watch & read a lot of horror, but it's not my favorite genre. The last 1/3 of this novel was exceptionally intriguing.

Favorite Passages from I KNOW A SECRET:

Sometimes there was more meaning in silence than in words.

Maura pried off the cranial cap and revealed the glistening surface of gray matter. Here was what had made Cassandra a unique human being. Stored in this three-pound organ had been every memory, every experience, everything Cassandra had ever known or felt or loved.

"So what's the deal with the girl who got her eyeballs scooped out?"

"Did your creepy friend do the autopsy?" asked Frankie.

"Now you're leaving the table too?" said her father.
"Someone's gotta help Ma poison the dessert."
In the kitchen, Jane found Angela standing by the sink, pouring herself a generous glass of wine.
"Want to share the bottle?" asked Jane.
"No. I think I deserve the whole damn thing." Angela took a desperate gulp. "It's back to the of days, Janie. Nothing's changed."

"Sometimes the only way to tell the truth is through fiction."

"The movie is also about how memories get twisted over time. How the truth is simple a matter of your point of view."

The death scene was a slo-mo gorefest of spurting blood and flying cranium that made Jane squirm on her couch cushion. Jesus, no wonder she didn't watch horror flicks; they reminded her too much of work.

"No one ever asked me about Billy before. No one seemed to care."
"We care. We care about the truth."
"Well, the truth is, Billy Sullivan was a nasty little shit."

Could not put this book down. Glad to read about Boston's Ladies of Crime again. Tess Gerritsen did not disappoint. She once again took me on a journey so twisted I had to hold on tight for that wild ride.

It's been a while since I read a book this good I had to know what really happened.

I would recommend reading this book. ...more
