It was a faced paced ride from the start, but along the journey we get to see all of the characters grow and change. Cat is still one of the best heroines out there - tough, witty, no-nonsense but with believable flaws. Bones - well, what's not to love? I must admit that I loved Tate in the last book, but he went so far over the line in this one, I really did want Bones to beat him senseless. 7/20/12-Well, this is the first book where my original rating took a definite dive on the re-read. So the rating above is the average of the two because this time I honestly would give it a 3 star rating. Going in I remember so things that happened, but totally forgot all about the big bad in this book. Going in I remember so things that happened, but totally forgot all about the big bad in this book. And actually as I read this book I realized a lot of stuff happens and the book reads like a lot of little vignettes before we even find out the big plot and then the big plot line feels crammed in.

Also, I understand the author is trying to create... tension? Sexual tension? A love triangle (or parallelogram) of some geometric shaped love connection. But it doesn't work when your main couple is so solid, meant to be, together forever already. I feel like if there isn't confusion then the point is just annoying and can't really go anywhere. Plus the big tension causing incident could again have been avoided. Actually, I don't know why it even happened. And I say again, why are so many men infatuated with Cat. It sure as shit isn't her sparkling personality.

So the moral of the story is I lost some of the glow from the first read, but I want to keep reading. Book four sort of marks a new beginning if I remember correctly, and there is more Vlad and ore travel so I guess we'll see. Book 4 is also the last reread for me of the series and then I can start on new books, which I love. And I hope that I find out things that I have been wondering- Like where is the 4th vampire? In the first book we know there were 4 Ian, Charles, Timothy and Crispin. We met Charles in the first book, and Ian in the second and we haven't heard a peep about Timothy- who was the one that actually wanted to be changed. It just seems weird. Also, what became of Noah, the pet vet? Or Timmie from the first book- I know we found out he graduated and stuff but I liked him. I think what is missing for me is the human element, and Denise doesn't do it for me... ...more

I know it's been months since I read the previous book in this series but I've gone over a year between and books and have still been able to jump right back in with the characters like it was yesterday.

This series keeps getting better and better. Bones and Cat seem to have some bad luck but they story was great and exciting. I worried that after they got back together in book 2 the story might get a little stale, but that was definitely not the case. This one had some serious ups and downs but I wasn't able to put it down!
