This reivew is for the audio version only - The narration on this for Bones was so bad that I couldn't get more than 30 minutes into the book. It's a really shame as this series is a favorite of mine and I was so happy to see it available on audio. However, it was a very poor choice by someone to hire a narrator who, I'll give you does a fine job on Cat, but seems to think that Brits sound like Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins, completely ruining what is supposed to be a dead sexy character. ...more

This book should come with a warning label: do not read while driving, operating heavy machinery, or on a ten minute break at work! Seriously. When our heroine and her gorgeous vampire beau finally have their big consummation, I was between classes and practically needed a defibrillator before I could face my second-period students.

FIRST READ- 8/5/2009- 4 Stars- No review written.

7/17/12-3 stars- Obviously I first read this series almost 3 years ago. It was right around the time that the 4th book came out. When I read this series the first time it was among of the first in this paranormal genre I was reading. I mean I had read Twilight, then the Sookie books, then this was among the few months I was looking for more good series and I was new to GR and someone had suggested it. When I read this series the first time it was among of the first in this paranormal genre I was reading. I mean I had read Twilight, then the Sookie books, then this was among the few months I was looking for more good series and I was new to GR and someone had suggested it. Anyway, I devoured the series (to date) in 4 days and couldn't wait for the next Cat and Bones book. But it was two years before that happened and I had given up waiting by then and missed it. So now it's been 3 years and I had forgotten enough that I decided I needed to go back to the beginning. Little things came bak to be but I had forgotten most of it pretty thoroughly. And I didn't love this book as I had the last time.

Cat's mom was rape by a newly turned vampire and 5 months latere Catherine Kathleen Crawfield was born- half human half vampire. Her mother is fanatically anti-vampire and encourages Cat to hunt and kill them to fight her nature. Cat's mother is annoying. Cat meets Bones thinking she's going to kill him, but she soon discovers that a lot of her killing has been because of luck and element of surprise and she can't best Bones. He instead strikes a deal to train her and the rest is history. Until the end of the book where suddenly we are introduced to secret government agencies and the whole series takes a bizarre turn.

I think it definitely suffered from some first book syndrome, which I didn't notice the first time. I found Cat an extremely difficult character to like or root for in this book, and the ending just turned odd which I had remembered and I guess hoped I was wrong. I think the romance and big revelations felt rushed- you know like they had to get in before the book ended because the ending of the book was going to introduce government conspiracies and we needed to be sure the stakes would be high. Halfway to the Grave is the first novel in the Night Huntress series by the amazing Jeaniene Frost. I just realized I did not have a review for this, and was shocked. Mainly because this is one of my favorite series, ever.
If you have yet to hear of this series, you must not be a huge fan of any vampire related, Urban Fantasy or Paranormal Romance, because I can`t imagine anyone not knowing this series who is. If you haven`t read this series yet, I suggest after reading this, that you head strai Halfway to the Grave is the first novel in the Night Huntress series by the amazing Jeaniene Frost. First off, let me introduce you to one of my favorite character duos ever.
Meet Cat. Half Vampire, Half Human, whose real name is Catherine Crawfield, but you better not call her that, she just may kill you. Cat has a pure hate for vampires, being that one is her deadbeat of a father who raped her mother and ruined her mothers life. On one of Cats night out hunting, she enters a bar looking for a vamp to kill, but ended up being drove to a secluded spot with another male, only to get captured. During which both Cats and her captures life changes.

Meet Bones. Sexy bounty hunter slash vampire. Loved by all the ladies, and feared by all the men. Taken from Frost's website--Bones. After his transition, he woke up in the natives’ burial ground surrounded by bones. “…for from bones I rose and Bones I became…” --
Bones is 217 years old, in a 24 year old body. He never thought he'd want to be tied down to a female, but this one is too fierce and beautiful, and he must have her.

Without giving too much away, I just want to say how amazing this book was. I can't stress enough that it's a series that has to be read for all Urban Fantasy & Paranormal Romance fans. It has everything from, romance to thrilling action to gore. I haven't heard a bad word of any of Frost's books, and it's without a doubt going to be a hit for a very long time, along with the spin-off series called The Vampires Huntress World. I guess it's
obvious that I would recommend this series. I can't wait for This Side of The Grave to be released... It's going to be electric! ...more

The first installment of the Night Huntress series came highly recommended to me in several goodreads groups. I find that sometimes when I get hyped up about a certain book that I end up disappointed and that may have been what happened here.

I also will remain further judgement until I read more of the series, I know that the first book in a series can be a build-up and set-up for the world and can generally be the weakest of the bunch.

I loved the book(and Bones, Of course.) but it had the WORST ENDING EVER...I would've cried like crazy if I didn't know better(Thanks to Amy's updates).

I've been DYING for a book with one POV, thank you so much Amy for introducing it to me!
