Hmm.. Well, this book was somehow lacking.
Dead in the Family is the 10th book in the Sookie Stackhouse series and it really felt like a filler book. Like "here read this while I finish the next story". In this book Sookie finds herself once again (unwillingly) involved in Were politics, she's questioning her bond with Eric, worrying about Bill and being suspected of something by the police... Maybe it's because it's all so been there done that. Not to mention it really just took forever to get ...more

I rated this 3.5 stars.
I know I'm a year behind on this read, but I wanted to wait until it came out in paperback and I could read both this novel and "Dead Reckoning" in the same month.
Dead in the Family is the tenth instalment in the Sookie Stackhouse(a.k.a True blood) series by the very talented Charlaine Harris. I started this series a while back, before the tv series was out and I really got hooked fast.
This time around Sookie is still coping with the loss of her fairy cousin and friend, ...more

Slightly better than #9, but it seems to me that these books are losing the ability to stand alone as an entire book. The series started out with each book having its own story, usually a murder mystery or an adventure of some kind (ie. rescuing Bill). The last couple books, though, seem to not carry enough story for me. The writing isn't captivating, the characters are drab, we are losing touch with past main characters, ie. Sam, Bill, etc. The new characters that she brings in, Eric's maker an

Oh Sookie Stackhouse I have been waiting for you for over a year... you just didn't do that one year period justice.
I love the Sookie Stackhouse novels and am a huge fan of Charlaine Harris's writing. Trust me she could blither on about nothing and I would enjoy it... which is sort of what this book was. A whole lot of nothing that was very enjoyable.
I felt there wasn't much of a plot... and not enough Eric, Bill and too much Sam.

I feel pretty lukewarm about this Sookie installment.
Picking up pretty much from where the last book ended, Sookie is trying to recover from the torture she had experienced and dealing with the loss of several people. In this story, we get vampire, weres and fae stories woven throughout the storyline, but it feels like a filler before the next book. Pretty meandering, in my opinion.

I love the Sookie series, but was disheartened by the ending in this book.
The story, while good, just was not as exciting as previous books, but it was very enjoyable to get to find out more about the history of Eric and Bill and get to know more about Claude.
