Once again I will start by saying I chose this book because of its cover. It is by far my favorite cover of the year, absolutely stunning in every way. Even the paper feels good in your hands while you are reading it!

The story itself is one I am going to have to wait for the sequel to decide on. The plot was slow moving and I kept waiting and waiting for Luce to find out, along with the rest of us what is really going on. I relish ...more

I really enjoyed this book. I am liking the theme of fallen angels, I have read a couple of other books on the same theme and really enjoy it.
First of all, commenting on other comments that this book was like Twilight.... I have to disagree. The only thing about this that had any of the same scenarios of Twilight would be teenagers, a love story/triangle, high school. As one of the other reviewers said, so tired of all books being compared to Twilight. Twilight ( some spoilers in this review....)

I really enjoyed this book. I am liking the theme of fallen angels, I have read a couple of other books on the same theme and really enjoy it.

As one of the other reviewers said, so tired of all books being compared to Twilight. Twilight is a wonderful saga, one of my favorites, but not everything should be compared to it.
Saying that....

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. There was enough suspense, love interests and mystery to keep me going. I had several ideas as to what was really going on, some of them were right and some I was happy to find wrong.

The characters were entertaining and likable. I liked that she portrayed the teens as teens. Not afraid to show them using language and not afraid to put them in real scenarios. Some of the YA books portray the teenagers as too perfect, too goody goody. This book portrayed them in a realistic setting.

Some of the decisions that Luce made, I was screaming for her not to do. But she is a teenager, and she thought she was doing the right thing.

The book has a lot of attention to detail, which can make the read a little long, and I found myself wishing that the next scene would come.

Of course this is part of a series, so now to wait until the next one comes. I only hope that she can keep the pace and the excitement going in the next one as she did this one. There are a lot of questions to be answered a lot of explanations that I am eager to see how she pulls off. I think this will be a good series, as long as she answers those questions and does a good job at explaining how things worked out at the end of this book.

I found myself cheering for Cam!!!! I know....but there was something about him.... but of course I am so happy with the outcome. Would have liked to have seen more interaction with Molly, I think that would have been entertaining. Roland has potential. I truly loved Daniel, Arianne, even started to like Gabbe. I feel bad for Penn, and I really think that Luce is a great leading character. She is smart, strong and a typical teen age girl. All in all I really liked this book a lot. ...more

I'm still not sure if I liked or disliked Fallen. Parts of me liked the characters, and thought that the plot line was exciting and action packed... Then there's this other part of me hating the fact that my favorite (secondary) characters ended up either dead or forgotten about. And, the romance seemed suspiciously Twilight-like to me. Which didn't appeal to me at all.

Similarities between the Twilight and Fallen romances (Bella & Edward and Luce & Daniel):

Similarities between the Twilight and Fallen romances (Bella & Edward and Luce & Daniel):

- Daniel/Edward ignore -and possibly even hate- Luce/Bella when first meeting her.
- Luce/Bella feels a strange connection to Daniel/Edward.
- Both Daniel and Edward believe they'll end up killing the girl he loves. (Though Daniel does have a bit of a better reason fro this believes).
- There's a love triangle in both novels. Twilight has the Jacob/Bella/Edward love triangle, while Fallen's love triangle features Cam/Luce/Daniel. In both novels, it is painfully obvious who the heroine will chose, not even giving the other guy a chance.

Now, what's different? Well, I will admit that the plot line in Fallen wasn't that exciting until the end. That's when things starting happening. The romance got good, there was a fire, a few deaths, and a few fights. and the revelation of a pretty big secret. Sad thing was, yeah, that so-called big secret? I guessed it from the very beginning. It was just too obvious.

As for the characters? Is it sad that I liked Arianne - a secondary character- better than Luce, the main character? Arianne was a cool, fun and interesting character. She came into the story near the beginning and captured my interest almost immediately. She became good friends with Luce early on... Only to be practically written out of the story when Luce found a new best friend, Penn. I was extremely sad to see Arianne just disappear like that. After Penn came into the story, Arianne was in maybe three more scenes, and only mentioned a couple of times until the end when she came back... barley. She was there... She just didn't really say or do much. I felt kind of ripped off.

My thoughts on Luce? Sorry, but she just didn't really float my boat. She was kind of annoying. Seemed like she could never really make up her mind, going back and forth from Cam to Daniel. And, man, was she depressing. Seemed like her mind only thought of two different things: Boys (aka Cam and Daniel) and the deaths of two people she barley knew. It was a little boring and a lot depressing.

The first 2/3 of the novel felt like it was going nowhere. I almost stopped reading it. Thankfully, the last 1/3 of the novel somewhat made up for the sucky beginning and middle. It was packed full of action and fight scenes. But the ending was left pretty much wide open. I like to feel at least a little like some things were wrapped up all neat... But nothing seemed like that at all. No neat little bows, not even a knot. I felt like I was left with more questions than answers, and that just doesn't sit well with me.

Overall, it was a decent novel, but nothing I'd deem worthy of buying. ...more

Bottom Line – if you like paranormal, romance – then you should ignore everything you have read about Fallen, and read it for yourself. For me, it was an amazingly beautiful book, that I felt privileged just to read. I give this book a 5++ Mushrooms, this was one of the best books I have read so far this year, with out a doubt! I can NOT wait for Torment to come out, September seems like it's right around the corner but when your waiting for a sequel to a book like this one, it's an eternity!

This book was mysterious, epic, awesome, dark, slightly scary, fantical (is that even a word) and just pure amazing. I couldnt put it down. One of my favorites with such a cliffhanger ending.
