I really didnt like Blood of the Fold and was hoping this novel would pick up the story a bit and include some better writing. The first part of the novel I was actually pretty happy with and though "the plague" seems like a rather boring nemesis, I was at least enjoying the expansion on the mord sith characters and also Nathan's part of the story. Richard and Kahlan were just so so in this book, at least they were together for the majority of it which I liked, but a lot of the other characters

This book has a lot on the wizards' history, that part was interesting. I also liked Nathan Rahl and hope he figures more in the following books. All in all, the story was okay but not as good as "Stone of Tears".
