قوة الرواية في أن كل هذا الدمار و الانحطاط يحصل بسبب فقدان حاسة واحدة فقط لذا ستعطي للبصر أهمية أكبر بكثير من بعد الرواية و أثناء قراءة الرواية لن تستطيع الفرار من فكرة انك ستعمى في أي لحظةٍ من الآن و ستصاب في حالات كثيرة بالمزيد من البؤس و فقدان الأمل بالبشرية إن لم تكن قد فقدت كل آمالك مسبقاً.

This book is like a punch in the stomach, it puts your glasses on and makes you see the human nature on a 360 angle. Really the hardest to digest book I read so far. Saramago is a genius, and his writing style keeps you addicted to an atmosphere which on the other hand you can’t wait to escape. I consider myself fortunate to have read this book now, in these Covid times, as I think Saramago’s perception about humanity are confirmed now more than ever in the last decades.

Fragmentos de genialidad y lucidez combinados con fragmentos de abrumadora densidad. El libro es original y contundente formal e ideológicamente… pero le sobran páginas para ser una obra redonda. Aun así, lectura más que recomendada.

Una historia cautivante contada de una forma aterrizada. Creo que Saramago acierta en sus imaginaciones del comportamiento humano frente a una situación tan descabellada, son lo más destacado de esta narración, la forma como te pone a reflexionar profundamente sobre los vericuetos de la raza humana tanto en sus ritos normales como en situaciones extremas.
En ocasiones parecía que estaba leyendo el guión de una película de terror de hollywood, por lo terrorífico de la situación.
