Re reading this and it’s still as cool as the first. Cooler, in fact.

I really detested this book. I know it is a classic. I know legions of people love it. Still, the only thing that got me through it was sitting next to my son while we read it together.

I greatly enjoyed Tolkien's writing style. Even when it seemed that he was getting side-tracked by dragging on with details, I enjoyed being side-tracked as well. I must admit, in the beginning, I wasn't sure that I would make it through the book easily. I am reading several books at a time, and single books often isolate all of my attention. My favourite book of all time. Accessible for all ages, and it's not always a popular opinion but... Bilbo beats Frodo any day. Frodo is such a martyr while Bilbo is a bumbling badass. And in that vein this book is lighter and self-contained where Lord of the Rings is heavier and epic in scope.

I can't do this book justice in a review, but I read it once a year and love every second of it, that's good enough for me

Great book though I admit I only read it because of the upcoming movie. I was confused while Watching the Lord of the Rings movie because I had not read the book before watching the movie so I didn't want to be confused when this new movie came out. It was very entertaining book! I'm glad I read it! ...more
