You know, I read this back before the Lord of the Rings series came to the theatre and glad I did. It was great, I can't wait till my sons read it, even if it's a slow go, it's an "epic journey" to steal one from Hollywood.

Tolkien is always great, but I prefer the more epic story of LotR.
I read the french translation of this book when I was about 11 years old and even though I remember enjoying it a lot, I didn't remember a lot about the story except from the part with barrels and the interaction between Bilbo and Smaug.
I love Tolkien's writing style and I am fascinated by the cover of this book designed by him.
