You know, I read this back before the Lord of the Rings series came to the theatre and glad I did. It was great, I can't wait till my sons read it, even if it's a slow go, it's an "epic journey" to steal one from Hollywood.

Will I ever get past Chapter 1 in this book? Started it numerous times. Yawn. Everyone says skip The Hobbit and just read Lord of the Rings. If this is any indication of Tolkien's writing, though...

Tolkien is, of course, a master of the genre. But I have to admit that I found this a bit of a drag to get through.
