What Members Thought

Finally finished this tome. Don't really know what to make of it. Part of me found it moving, part of me was put off by the whole thing. I can see doing the Cain and Abel story once, but to do it twice over, in one book, in succeeding generations, just seems like overkill. But then maybe that's what Steinbeck wanted: to show the pattern of repetition.
