i HAVE HEARD OF THIS BOOK ALL OVER THE PLACE SO HAD A GLIMMER WHAT IT WAS ABOUT!!!! BURNING OF BOOKS BUT THEIR IS SO MUCH OF THAT IT INTERESTED ME THAT THIS WAS WRITTEN LAST CENTURY BUT COULD BE DESCRIBING THE WORLD OF TODAY SO WELL AND IS FRIGHTENING TO SEE HOW WE READ TODAY WERE KNOWLEDGE IS AT OUR FINGERTIPS !! i HAVE READ ABOUT Ray Bradbury and he always insisted it was not about Censorship he was getting at but prob T.v when this book was published it was nowhere like the world of today wit

This should be mandatory reading....though I fear few would really get it. It's too easy to do what is easy, fun, and self-indulgent. But, I guess that boils down to a state of mind. I find reading easy, fun, and self-indulgent!

I would have preferred to read this book rather than listen to it as an audiobook, but then I realized that it was never getting to the top of my pile of books that I would like to read. While this book is well-written, it simply did not hit as hard as when I read 1984 and Brave New World (probably my favorite). He had some excellent points to make particularly in the afterword though it does come through in the book as well regarding how censorship starts and for that reason I would recommend i

Just like Atwood's The Handmaid's Tale and Orwell's 1984, this book gives a rather bleak forecast of the future. Considering the time it was written (1953) it is frightening there are quite a few accurate predictions. I wouldn't say it is a pleasure to read, but it certainly gives you food for thought.
