Shelves: to-read-in-2016-challenge

I like the author's approach overall, and I liked learning about the background of the book and the author's life. I heartily enjoyed the character of Gabriel Betteredge, the servant-in-charge. (On the audio book, his accent sounded just like the servants on Downton Abbey.) Though even Betteredge's portion of the story went on a bit long.

The main things that detracted from the novel for me:
a. It dragged a bit and got somewhat tiresome in the middle. Probably because it was originally published ...more

I didn't hesitate to give this one four stars, and I will definitely pick up other books from this author! It kept me guessing and I'm happy to say that my guesses were all wrong, so no predictability at all as far as I'm concerned. The characters were delectable, they were my absolute favorite part of this novel. It feels as if W.
