What Members Thought

I liked this book, but not enough to recommend it. Some of the interchanges between husband and wife were spot on genius. As a commentary on the individual feeling straight-jacketed by societal expectations, the book is very good. There is some forbidden love romantic tension, and some noble renununciation of the Emily Dickinson kind: "itself choosing against itself, itself to justify unto itself". Also, a recognition of how one's fate can turn on a dime.
