I'm really proud that after so many attempts (the first one was in 1997) I finally managed to finish this novel. It really is am amazing work of art but for me it was also very hard to read at times. ...more

First of all it is probably my fault that I am not giving this a better rating than I have but I got really confused by parts of this book. I really struggled with coping with the fact that all the characters have the same names, I now this is the custom with names in latin america but all the same I really struggled to cope with which Jose Arcadio I was dealing with at a given point, also the fact that several characters lived for an improbable length of time only continued to confuse me.
