What Members Thought

I'm conflicted about this one. On the one hand, the prose was very beautiful and the attention to detail in the setting, characterizations, and story was phenomenal. On the other hand, I don't really like any of the characters (particularly Florentino, who needs to be slapped repeatedly and with great force) and I don't really like the plot. It does make me curious to read some of the author's other work, but it will probably be a long while before I get around to it.

A beautiful exaggerated ode to sex and feelings. Am not sure, if this book is about love, since love here is sick. Cholera exactly.
Anyway, i like this novel for its fine and very vivid descriptions of the city, nature, buildings and everything. Those descriptions create such picture, that you not only see, but feel it. Marquez is a master in it.
And also many moments to think over.

An incredible read. Touching on true love as a sickness, an Illness which plagues you for life, life itself, aging, dying, secrets taken to the grave. I am not sure why this sat on my bookshelf for close to 10 years waiting to be read.
