4.5 I love the character of Bernadette! This book was a joy to read and I like how the relationship between Elgie and Bee evolved. The only flat part for me was the ending.
Does it make me crazy that I understood Bernadette? I might not be like her, but I understood her and loved her character. This was an enjoyable book and I was never bored. I recommend this to anyone who loves a good story from beginning to end!
Extremely entertaining, but I would have liked the ending much more if the husband had been a better person.
Terrific!! Reminds me of another author I love, Alina Bronsky, with her smart, tough, funny female protagonist.
Oh wow! I really enjoyed this book and then I went to read more about the author and she wrote for Arrested Development so of course I liked it! What a great light read, it had me laughing and thinking "Gosh how interesting are Bernadette, Elgie and Bee!"
I would recommend this, absolutely, I don't think anyone wouldn't like it. Light hearted fun, keeps you thinking and laugh out loud funny. I'll be reading more of Maria Semple's books. ...more

I loved this story and all the different formats used in the book. With that being said, I felt a little let down by the ending. I guess I wanted more of a mystery in the end.
