I'm rereading Watchmen for the first time in about five years and have thus decided to start a petition to officially change its name to creamy goodness.
Seriously its one of those blessed rereadings where every twenty pages or so I come across a sequence and go "Yeah I remember this this part kicks ass this is my favorite part of the book." and then twenty pages later I repeat the phrase.
People always remember how important the book is. But I think we forget just how goddamned good it is. ...more

One of the greatest comics of a generation. Proves that comics and even super hero comics are not just for kids and aren't just for failed prose writers. Moore and Gibbons bring something special to this that a novel couldn't do.

"a milestone in comic book history (but not for everyone)"
when i read watchmen, it was an interesting experience. i was initially drawn in by its constant heralds as the epitomy of graphic novels, which it fits to a tee. if one takes the phrase "graphic novel" literally, word for word, that is just what moore has given us. watchmen is no lightweight reading. it is very moore, in that it is "heavy" in its style and story.

didnt totally love it.
rorschach is a bad ass. dr. manhattan is too. perhaps veidt as well.
i didn't really get to experience the cold war. i'm not really scared of russia like i should be. maybe this takes away from the tone of the story.
though i will say the watchmen is one of the best graphic novels i've read.
my favorite parts was the comic within the comic 'Tales of the Black Frieghter.'

Nevermind that it's about "super-heroes", it's a greatly and tightly woven and violent tale about power, greed, and lost love.
A must read that puts the "Novel" in "Graphic Novel". ...more

One of the greatest graphic novels I've ever read. Alan Moore has a tremendous imagination.
