didnt totally love it.
rorschach is a bad ass. dr. manhattan is too. perhaps veidt as well.
i didn't really get to experience the cold war. i'm not really scared of russia like i should be. maybe this takes away from the tone of the story.
though i will say the watchmen is one of the best graphic novels i've read.
my favorite parts was the comic within the comic 'Tales of the Black Frieghter.'

To call this a "comic" is insulting. You don't have to love Neil Gaiman or X-men comics to appreciate this book. You just have to love the art of storytelling. Yes, it has pictures and it's about "superheroes", but's it's also character driven, rich with symbolism and mutli-layered. Maybe my five stars is overboard but hey - I'm drunk. And isn't THAT what goodreads is all about?

For some reason, I can't really get into Alan Moore. And I've read a variety of his stuff. It's really weird - I WANT to like him. So I'll keep trying. But anyway, no one can deny that The Watchmen is a must-read, a definitive comic story, etc. Here's hoping Hollywood doesn't mess up the movie coming out next year.
