Not a real review but... I really liked this fantasy with steampunkish overtones. This is an ensemble piece with many good characters and the various point of views were handled well. I liked the world that was created and the way that it was slowly exposed.I did this in audio and was a bit worried about tackling such a long book in this format, but the story is very well paced so the length wasn't an issue. I really liked the reader- he did a good job with everyone male, female and feline. I am

This was a very entertaining read. Plenty of action and adventure and cats. Yes cats. And they were awesome. One small gripe would've been a bit more world "explanation". It was fed in bits which was ok but some parts were confusing to me and I had to re-read them. I liked all the characters in that none of them were perfect (well maybe Rowl the cat was, but he's a cat after all). I loved this book. Great world building, really interesting characters, a chilling enemy, really cool airships and weapons "gauntlets"

A wonderful beginning
This book was action packed and immensely readable. Butcher created a vibrant world in the streamlined tradition filled with interesting people and places. I can't wait for the next installment. ...more
