I fell instantly in love with Hazel and Josh. I devoured the first part of the book. I was SURE that this would be my favorite Christina Lauren to date BUT. But. Hazel and Josh were so open with each other about EVERYTHING (I mean, I'm pretty sure Hazel is incapable of being anything but super open and honest about everything whether she should be or not), everything except how they felt about each other and that was SUPER frustrating and seemed out of character. Then there were the creepy ways

I read this for the Smart Bitches Trashy Books January readalong. This grade is a mash-up of a positive grade for most of the book, and a negative grade for the ending.
Good things: this didn't engender any of my usual frustrations with contemporary romance, Josh was great, the middle section of the book was excellent, particularly the double blind dates (although I did feel sorry for everyone else on those dates, even the terrible ones, since neither Josh nor Hazel were paying any attention to a ...more

And so do the teachers (though it doesn't hurt that her best friend (Josh's sister) is one of them and that the sister's husband ...more

Reread Aug 2024 - essentially the same notes as in previous reads, but I think I'll lower the score to 3.5 stars. It's not my favorite CL. The pining seemed to go on forever. And the male narrator is just awful. He's marginally acceptable for Josh (but not good), but his other voices are terrible. The announcer at the trivia game was so bad I had to jump ahead in the story to get past it. I just couldn't listen!
