Thank you to my friend Sue for choosing this hilarious epistolary novel for book club! The first half had me laughing almost every page. I suspected it would be difficult to maintain the intensity of the humor for the whole novel, and unfortunately I was correct. The characters and storyline were so farcical and shocking that it was a bit disappointing when the reality of consequences hit the story. But it's still a fantastic, unique read.

Bernadette is a hot mess. My book group chose this book to read. The story is told through the daughter's (Bee) point of view. Through letters and emails, she discovers more than she wanted to know about her crazy mother. Bee's father is no gem, either. Still, the story is compelling. I had to find out what happened to Bernadette.

Up until Bernadette's final letter it was absolutely perfect! Witty, fast paced, just enough description, interesting characters. Still highly recommended.
